In April–May 2026, academic and administrative staff of Ilia State University participated in two international professional development training activities organized within the framework of the EU-funded PRODIGE project, focusing on the development of digital education and the internationalization of higher education.
From 20 April to 11 May, university representatives took part in the online training course “Using Distance Education as a Driver for Internationalization.” The training combined synchronous and asynchronous learning activities and enabled participants to explore how distance and blended learning can support the internationalization of universities, strengthen international cooperation, and expand global educational opportunities. Participants discussed topics such as virtual and blended mobility, Internationalization at Home, the development of international partnerships, and the integration of distance education into institutional strategies. As part of the training, they also developed draft institutional action plans aimed at strengthening the international profile of their universities through the effective use of digital education.
From 25 to 29 May, representatives of Ilia State University participated in an international study visit and training program hosted by Algebra Bernays University in Croatia. The program focused on digital transformation and strengthening institutional capacities for digital education. It included lectures, workshops, and study visits through which participants gained insights into the European Union’s Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027), hybrid and fully online learning models, student information systems, learning management systems (LMS), and best practices in digital education.
