On June 14-18, 2010, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Ecology Ketevan Batsatsashvili participated in a regional workshop/training “Publication of Data on Biodiversity of Hindu Kush Himalaya Region” held in the capital of Nepal, Katmandu.  

The training was conducted by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA), Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF)

The goal of the training was to make participants familiar with the database, which is necessary for the establishment of the training module “Biodiversity of the Greater Caucasus – Open Database for Improvement of Biodiversity Management and Prediction of Global Change Tendencies”. This module envisages the creation of an electronic archive of diverse alpine plant co-societies. The archive will include data, which has been collected by Georgian scientists for more than 50 years and will be published on international portals of GBIF and GMBA. The project is to be carried out in cooperation with the GBIF. This work will make existing data on Georgian alpine flora accessible for the global botanical society.
