On May 27, Ilia State University hosted a meeting with the director and board members of the Gebert Ruef Stiftung and professors from a Swiss university.
The Foundation provides funding for a number of important projects, which are directed towards development of social sciences and humanities in Georgia. ASCN (The Academic Swiss Caucasus Net) is a support program of the research conducted by the Gebert Ruef Stiftung. It pursues the goal to contribute to the process of regional transformation by the means of providing support for academic research in social sciences and promotion of young scholars.

ASCN program gives young scholars a chance to lead research projects. Due to financial matters researchers from the South Caucasus often don’t have an opportunity to carry out research projects. The ASCN program is trying to eliminate this problem and encourage young gifted scholars to conduct research projects of European standards and become full members of academic world.
The program will support high quality social science projects which are linked to the process of transformation. Projects will be selected based on discussion of applications. Final decision on the selected works will be done by an international scientific board.
