Rehabilitated complex “Olympic” opened its doors to the sportsmen about a month ago. Since that time its 50-meter swimming pool already hosted three water polo competitions, among them the most recent one – the National Championship for the sportsmen born in 1997-1998.
 
Six teams from Tbilisi participated in the championship. Members of the club “Ligamus” (Irakli Razmadze, Sandro Ghlonti, Gocha Vadachkoria, Giorgi Turkia, Lasha Okhanashvili, Giorgi Tshedia, Luka Mgeladze, Levan Mosashvili, Revaz Imnaishvili, Zurab Kvirkvelia, Nika Shushiashvili, Mika Tukhareli, trainers: Soso Maisuradze and Goga Dolidze) from  Ilia State University showed an amazing game which resulted in consecutive victories over the teams “Tbilisi” (24:4), Tbilisi Lyceum (34:4), another “Ligamus” team (31:1), “Tonus (33:2), “Iveria (16:11).

“Ligamus” won the championship. Irakli Razmadze (goalkeeper) and Revaz Imnaishvili (forward) were declared the best players of the tournament.

According to the Head of the Administration of the Ilia State University Sergo Ratiani, who is a former water polo player himself: “The competition is one more prove in favor of correctness of our decision to form a water polo club of the university. Water Sports Federation of Georgia invests  lots of efforts in restoring past traditions. We can see results of these actions right now. During the last meeting sensible play of the sportsmen charmed attending supporters. I am happy for “Ligamus” to become the champion. Our university and Water Sports Federation will do their best for further popularization of water polo as it has future in Georgia”.
