Ilia State University, in partnership with Inha University (Republic of Korea), will establish the King Sejong Institute of Korean Language and Culture.

The King Sejong Institute (세종학당) is a global network of educational centres established by the Government of the Republic of Korea to promote the teaching of the Korean language and raise awareness of Korean culture around the world.

The Institute at Ilia State University will be established with the support of the King Sejong Institute Foundation. The joint proposal submitted by Ilia State University and Inha University successfully passed several stages of the competitive selection process. As a result, the King Sejong Institute will begin operating in a pilot phase from September 2026.

The Institute will provide students with the opportunity to study the Korean language, explore Korea’s culture, history, and traditions, and participate in a wide range of educational and cultural activities organized by the King Sejong Institute.

As part of its cooperation with Inha University, Ilia State University has successfully hosted the Inha–Ilia Center for Korean Studies for several years. The two universities continue to strengthen their collaboration through student exchange programmes, summer schools, initiatives in Korean language and culture, and joint projects addressing global climate challenges.

The establishment of the King Sejong Institute marks another significant milestone in strengthening the strategic partnership between Ilia State University and Inha University. The Institute will create new opportunities for students, academic staff, and everyone interested in the Korean language and culture.
