The ISU group,“Olympic” hosted the first International Water Polo Tournament, which brought together national teams from Georgia,  Great Britain, Ukraine and Belarus. Illia State University showed their competitiveness and talent, with a final score of 7:7 against Belarus during the first round of the tournament. The tie was followed by a win in the game with the Ukainian team (10:8) and British teams (10:7). The Georgian team managed to collect 5 points and won the tournament. It was followed by the British (2nd place), Belarussian (3rd place) and Ukrainian (4th place) teams.
   
The Head of the Administration of the Ilia State University described the tournament as “a serious competition with participation of strong teams”. He said: “Our team celebrated a deserved victory. It is nice to see that Georgian sportsmen have learned how to reverse the game and conduct it at their advantage. I am especially happy about the contribution that was made by the members of the water polo club of the Ilia State University “Ligamus”: Zurab Chumburidze, Kote Gegelashvili, Zurab Rurua, Tato Nikoleishvili and Giogi Khvedeliani. Two of them, Chumburidze and Khvedeliani were named the best goalkeeper and defender of the tournament. I hope, sportsmen from our club will continue to make us proud of them in future competitions too”. All teams showed commendable talent.
