Georgian Implementation Science Fogarty Training (GIFT) Program For Real-World Scientists & Practitioners in Georgia

The Georgian Implementation Science Fogarty Training (GIFT) Program is a multi-year training and capacity-building initiative funded by the Fogarty International Center of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is implemented through a strong academic partnership between Ilia State University’s Faculty of Medicine & School of Public Health and the Yale School of Medicine & Yale School of Public Health.

GIFT is designed to strengthen Georgia’s scientific and institutional capacity in HIV implementation science and biostatistics, with a focus on producing real-world, evidence-based solutions to pressing public health challenges. Through a combination of faculty development, doctoral-level mentorship, and structured research exchanges, the program supports the next generation of public health scientists, educators, and practitioners in Georgia.

One of the key annual components of the program is the GIFT Summer Bootcamp, a hands-on, interdisciplinary training event that brings together local and international experts, early-career researchers, and practitioners to build core competencies in implementation science. This bootcamp serves as both a platform for learning and a space for collaboration, promoting innovation in public health programming across Georgia and the wider region.
