On March 18-20, 2011 ISU College of Sport hosted the first stage of the international courses for Sport Administrators (Induction Courses & Sport Administrators Course) launched within the frameworks of the strategic cooperation among Ilia State University and National Olympic Academy of Georgia.
The mentioned project is implemented under the auspices of International Olympic Solidarity and aims to educate and to develop an Olympic movement in countries holding sport traditions. The course is for managers of regional sport divisions and federations, heads of administration-structural units and other focus groups.
The courses were coordinated by Prof. Lela Aptsiauri, Rector of National Olympic Academy of Georgia.
At the meeting, interesting speeches on the courses in Sport Administration were made by:
Ramaz Goglidze, First Vice–President for the Georgian National Olympic Committee, Tengiz Gachechiladze, Editor-in–chief of newspaper “Lelo” and President of Sport Science Development Federation; Tamaz Tevzadze, Sport Expert, Georgian Representative in the Council of Europe, Member of Sport Development Committee and member of advisory council under the Committee on Sport and Youth in Parliament; Merab Mirtskhulava, Professor of Medicine University and Manager of “WHO & CDC” Caucasus Office, Guram Amkoladze, Doctor of Technical Sciences, GTU Professor, Mamia Tughushi, Professor of the ISU College of Sport and Honored Master of Sports; Vasil Bakashvili, Doctor of Pedagogic, Honored Worker in Sport; Tengiz Terunashvili, President of Homotoxicology Association; Doctor of Biology and Professor; George Chiladze, Doctor of Business Administration and Full Professor of Akhaltsikhe University.
It was noted through the meeting that 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival will be held in Tbilisi. During a week, approximately 10 000 guests will visit the capital of Georgia. The program of the European Youth Olympic Festival includes the following types of sport: Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Tennis, Judo, Gymnastics, Athletics, Swimming and Cycle Racing. Therefore, the hosting of European Youth Olympic Festival requires a development of sport infrastructure and assistance of heads and managers of Sport administration-structural units. The course will help field specialists to organize and to hold future Olympic festivals.
The students of ISU college of Sport were given the possibility to ask questions, to express their opinions and to get involved in discussions. The representatives of the audience discussed development stages of Olympic movement, social aspects of sport and physical education development; development stages of successful management; types of effective management; legal aspects of Sport; law and regulations as well as doping control rules and regulations and their educational aspects. In addition, to support the holding of European Youth Olympic Festival, the representatives of the meeting discussed the opportunities to train volunteers within the ISU College of Sport.
