Swimming complex “Tonus” hosted 90 sportsmen from Georgia and Armenia during a three day swimming tournament of Tbilisi City Hall Open. Third year student of the Faculty of Business and Law Giorgi Bukhrikidze won silver in freestyle competition after collecting 1947 points in three distances (50+100+200m). He slightly fell behind Armenian swimmer Mikhael Poghosian.

Giorgi goes in for swimming since 12 years. He started his training in Gori under the guidance of his father, but later continued to upgrade his qualifications in Tbilisi with a new trainer – Irina Minzhulina. Giorgi is a repeated champion and prize winner in freestyle swimming (50 and 100m). Last year during the 100m competition he completed a qualifying standard for master of sports (100m). In 2009 Giorgi Bukhrikidze won gold for butterfly (50m), freestyle and complex style swimming (100m) at the Student Games. During the National Championship he was the first for butterfly category (100m). For the time being he trains for the national championship of Georgia.
